Need advice on new tires

I had my bridgestone potenzas for almost 10 months now and their completly bald. The tires itself didnt have that great of traction whether on dry or wet conditions. i do alot of "spirited" canyon driving and i was just wondering if you guys could give me advice on what tires you've tried and how they held up.

I was planning on getting michellen pilot sports. they have a reputation of having great traction on the dry. Only problem i have is rumors that under hard breaking, the car tends to steer one way.

Any input is greatly appreciated

just curious what Potenzas you had? I have SO-3's and love the traction. But they are only good for about 3/4 of the tred befor they get slick as canion tires. I'm on my 2nd set and love them. I was thinking of the pilot sport also, but keep changing the fronts and rears at different times.

i had the potenzas re750. yea i heard the SO-3 tread wears out pretty fast. i went to a couple differnet tire shops and they only had the Michellen Pilot Sport A/S (all season). I noticed that the pirelli pzero nero M+S is cheaper then the pilot sports and the tread wear is definetlly better so i think i might go with those.

Any other opinions appreciated

I have a set of the Pirelli pzero nero M+S on my car and I would not recommend them. They ride fine in the straight and the noise is less than the Pilots, but they are soft on the sidewall. You turn the wheel to set-up for a corner and they move making the car wiggle. No positive feel. The Pilots just set-up and stayed there. They are fine in the dry and rain. They do grip well around corners, but they just feel strainge setting-up.

I picked up some Avon M550s on tirerack last spring and so far they have been great in all weather (SE Pennsylvania)

I hadn't heard much about them, but they were cheaper than Michelins and had great reviews... and anything has to be better than the stock Dunlops, which is what I was replacing

Wink

If you are driving like a maniac, try the goodyear and michelin tyres, if you just like to go fast but without doing burnouts and spining starts, then continental sport grip 2 is the tyre for you.

I'll suggest Yokohama Avid V4s. Very good price, and an an excellent treadwear rating.

thanks for all the advice guys. Despite what WHATNXT said i ended up buying the Pirelli pzero nero. The price wasnt too bad and tread wear is 400 . After driving for almost 1k mile, i noticed that you have to really heat up the tires before they will grip very well. Other than that im pretty happy with my purchase and cant wait to take it to the canyons to see how it compares to my potenzas
