Manual Roof Operation --Owners Manual
I just purchased a white 1999 SLK 230 but it seems to have developed a similar problem to others here with the roof not fully opening or closing every time. I understand it can be opened or closed manually when this happens, but the previous owner had lost the owners manual and did not know how. All she had was the quick help guide. Two questions then:
1) Is there a downloadable copy of the full 1999 owners manual located on the web somewhere?
2) If not, can someone provide the steps to follow to open and close the vario hard top when this happens?
I was surprised MB did not have the owners manual online or even a purchase option for one on their site. The manuals seem to be scarce as about the only place I could find one was on ebay listed for $59.

Here's the problem. The manual only shows an emergency hardtop closing procedure...and it's no fun. Not only that, but the rear windows do not close once the hardtop is closed.
Best thing to do is bite the bullet and visit your dealer...

Thanks!!! The top had stopped a couple of times halfway open with the red switch flashing. The previous owner said let it set for about 10 minutes while it resets itself and then it will work. Just not a very time efficient process. I was looking for the inrtermediate step until i can get it in to the local dealer for a good overall check-up.
