New SLK

Hi,

I've just started looking at buying the 2003 SLK 320 and noticed that a new design is scheduled for next year. Can anyone give me feedback on whether I should wait for the new R171 due out next year?

I found a link http://www.t-gerber.de/slk/r171.htm to pictures and data (all in German) of the new model.

Thanks in advance

Do a search on previous posts. The question has come up quite a bit in the past. I think the new model will only be out in 2004 not the model year 2004. I could be wrong.

SLK 320 (auto)
Get a used one now...

I too was looking at new 2003 SLK 320s and found out that they will be restyled and available in 2004. I believe the 2003-2001 SLK 320s have not changed much (year-to-year) and wanted one but was not willing to pay for a new car, so here is what I did.

I looked online for a used 2001 SLK 320 (auto) and reviewed my local paper ads (Wash DC area). I found one in great shape (10K miles) and am about to lease it for 36 mos. I only want to keep it for 36 mos with the anticipation of getting a new SLK in 2005. I checked out (called and reviewed all the paperwork ahead of time) a website leasecompare.com which will lease new/used cars at better rates than MB Credit Corp - by the way I understand that MBCC will still hold you liable for payments even if you transfer their lease.

I am about to finalize the paperwork this weekend and drive off with my 2001 SLK 320 for the weekend. Something to consider....

New SLK

Go to http://mbspy.bacosys.be/r171.htm for new model info. Looks like it will go into production in 2005.

All,

While I was at the MB dealer checking out the possibility of a 2003 model, the salesman mentioned that he had a "nearly new" 2002 model that someone wanted to sell. Seven months old, just over 300 miles! So now I'm the proud owner of an almost new, fully loaded 2002 SLK 320.

Congratulations and WTTC! Life is too short waiting for a new model and besides do you really like the looks of the 2004/05 SLK?
