Hey guys. I bought my 2001 SLK with 94K miles on it. Its about to be hitting the 100K mark pretty soon. Are there any major things that need to be replaced during that time?? I can only think of the timing belt that would need replacing. The car is running great with no problems at all.

Also does anyone know of any little parts you can replace to enhance the performance without really putting a dent in your wallet. Does a better air filter etc. help out??

Just want to say again that I have been very happy with my SLK, and even though it is about to hit 100K I'm expecting it to run for a long time.

Any advice or input would be helpful. Thanks a lot!

Change the transmission fluid, spark plugs, and wires. Coolant and brake fluid should be flushed, too. You should do all of these if they haven't been done in the last 50K miles or 3 years.

I didn't know these engines had timing belts. Isn't it a chain?

I'm not a big fan of those oiled filters, but others swear by them. The best bang for your buck is a supercharger pulley kit, but it ain't cheap.

in my opinion Air filter is OK as standard. Car will run to top speed with it so qty of air isnt a prob. As stated uses a chain.
Not too much to mod other than a pulley to inc boost a couple of pounds.
