slk 320 Performance chip questions

I am a newbie here.
I just bought my first MB, a 2001 SLK 320.
I was looking around on the internet for a low cost performance chip.
I came across several of them on ebay for ony $25US.
They claim to add 35hp.
Is this possible?
I am a little screpticale due to it only being $25.
Has any one tried one of these, or does anyone know if this could be real.
Any input would be greatly appreciated on this..
Thanks in advance.

At best, a real chip, one that' been engineered specificially for your car can probably get an honest 8-10HP and will set you back $500-600. What you see on ebay is a resistor that tricks your IAT sensor to advance timing. At the risk of pinging you may get 1-2 HP. The best bet for your motor is the Evosport pulley kit, understand it gives you about 12 HP in the mid-range where you need it most for day to day driving and runs about $400-500.
