Silver SLK 230 (1998)
Unhappy Complete loss of Electrical Power

Hello All.

I have a 1998 SLK 230 that I only use in good weather. For the last couple of weeks the wife has used it to drive to work and yesterday I decided to take it for a good run covering around 100 miles. I stopped fifty miles into the trip, left the car and on return around 2hours later turned alarm off, turned key, dash jumped into life, went to turn the car over and nothing. Dash lcd's faded out no electrical power at all. Removed key and tried arming / disarming the car and nothing no electrical power whatsoever.

To get it running again I lifted the bonnet and checked the fuses, all was well so I thought I would try a reset by completely disconnecting the battery and reconnecting. Everything came back to life and car started first time. Apart from concerns that it was quite a strange electrical fault im a bit more nervous in that on turn over there is no evidence the battery was struggling to fire the car up and a check of the battery terminals confirmed they were well secured.

Has anyone any experience of this type of fault?

Thanks in advance.

Alan

Still sounds like a batt or connection fault to me.
