Fitment - Any tall guys out there

I'm looking to get a SLK320 around '00 - '02. I'll be getting mostly for my wife to drive ( at least for now ). I sat in a couple at the dealer and it seems OK but at 6'4 250lbs seems like it would get a little cramped on a longer type drive. Also worry about steering since knees are up close to the steering wheel. So what I'm looking for is if any of you here are Tall and what you think after having one for a while. I wouldn't be driving it all that much I think but would want to. It seems like a great cruz around town or mountain road car once in a while. What do you Taller guys think? Thanks

You're not going to like driving it. I'm about the same size as you and I couldn't stand driving my friends. The bigger concern is what shoe size you wear. I wear 12, and I'm finding my foot gets caught underneath where the pedals are.... Not exactly great situation when you need to brake quickly. Your legs will get tired and maybe cramp up if you drive for extended periods (over an hour straight driving).

It's not for the very tall. I have short legs so it's not a problem but if my legs were longer, the seat doesn't really go back that far and allow enough incline to be comfortable. Just get an SL, maybe slightly older to keep the price the same. They are more reliable and comfortable. Funny thing is the seat on the newer SLKs don't seem to go back as far as the older ones, at least for me. The further I moved it back, the seat back automatically get more more upright to avoid hitting the back of the interior.

Over on Benzworld this has been discussed a few times.

Most tall drivers are happy.
A mod they do is to remove (only fitted to USA SLKs) the pad by the knees, just pulls pff.

I'm not too tall (5'11"), but I do wear size 12 shoes and I don't find the space around the pedals to be a problem, where I have had the issue in other cars. Also, the car seems deceptively larger, interior-wise than one would initially think. I've had tall friends (6' 3" and over) ride in, and drive the car. I've never had one complain about a lack of leg space or headroom.

Hope this helps.

I'm 6' 2" and have no problems with my 230. I've driven it from Philly to South Carolina and back, no complaints (other than a smallish fuel tank requiring more stops that usual)

SLK
6'-4" 325 14 shoe and I fit wit out any problems or modifications to the dash.

Push the seat all the way down and back and you will fit just fine.

To get the seat down move it forward first then push it down.

Lean the back rest forward then slide the seat back till it stops.

Then roll the seat back till it hits the bulkhead.

Plenty of room.

What he said. I'm only a little over 6 feet with size 12 shoes but I find the drivers seat very spacious for such a small car. Just make sure the seat is down (side adjustment) then back (front lever).

Thanks

Just wanted to thank you all. I will try the seat down first mentioned in the last few posts. I love the look of this MB and am looking forward to buying.
