Tricky little problem....or a challenge

Hello,

I have a little teaser that I am sure someone on this thread can solve.

Some horrid little toerag attempted to break into my SLK, despite making a lot of mess to the paintwork he did not manage to open the door - but did manage to completely destroy the lock.

I was away when this happened and I presume that the alarm was going mad. On returning home the battery is completely flat.

So here is the problem. I have the key but the door lock is destroyed, and the electronic opening does not have enough power to work.

How can I get into the car ? Is there any way I can charge the battery without opening the bonnet ? Can I open the bonnet without using the leaver inside the car ?

I really don't want to have to smash the window (and even then I am not sure which one to break)

Any help would be grateful appreciated !!!

Bent Wire thru window edge onto door handle and pull it open

A very very nice man

Called the AA, some young spotty kid came out who clearly used to break into cars.

There is a much easier way. He simply jacked the car up, applied the jump cables to the starter motor and open sesame.

Top effort from the AA.

Question

OK, jumpers to the starter. Did this just apply power to the system or did it activate the starter? Is the car an automatic (in park) or a manual in 1st gear???

Starter power

Just to the system - enough to get the doors open.

why couldn't you just unlock the other door with the key and crawl over to pop the hood or unlock the drivers door?

Sorry, never noticed the passenger side has no key cylinder. Just use to unlocking my Dodge truck's passenger side door for my girlfriend to get in.
