SLK 230 seats and steering wheel
Hi guys,
I have funny question and wonder if its possible...
Can you put on slk230 the c class seats and exchange the steering wheel with the different c class wheel?
the reason I am asking, is because we all know the slk230 seats are not very comfy and too hard for my taste.
I have couple friends who have had a 1999 318bmw and some put in a brand new 2007 bmw steering wheel...
would that work with the slk? just wondering, thanks

I have seen owers swap the seats from a CLK to the SLK. It just depends on how handy you are at converting things. You can put just about any manual seat in the space but you just have to be able to bolt them down and still have the seat belts work. If they are power seats, then it would help to get a set that has the controls on the seat itself. Most Benzes have the controls on the door. Get a set from a face lift model or even a Chrysler Crossfire to get a little better support.
Steering wheels will swap as long as you have the airbag to go with it. I put in an SL one in my SLK and put the SLK steering wheel and airbag in my E-Class with no problems. If you are thinking of putting in a Multifunction airbag / steering wheel combo in the SLK, then you will need a lot more parts for the steering column or the whole steering column itself.

Thanks for the compliments. I recommend swapping the instrument cluster faces as well from the Chrysler Crossfire. The Climate Control Module can also be changed as well.
CLK seat have more padding and I mentioed that the seats after model year 2000 or facelift years, were redesigned as well. The AMG seats from a SLK32 might be a bit more comfortable. Not sure what year of 230 you have. You can add padding under the leather covers too. They are not that hard to take off the seat frames.

Actually,
I am currently driving (its not mine) the 1999 slk...
I am about to purchase my own...I was lucky my buddy let me has his while he is out of town to ge the feeling for it. I love it...
just the seats are not too comfy...
My one friend who lives far away, who has a 2001 (facelift) slk230 told me the seats on the 2001 and higher are better and more comfy, than the 1999 ones.
I never had the chance to sit in a 2001 model or higher...
You think the 2001 models with the face lift are indeed better, specicifcally as far the seat goes?
On the 1999 one...i real uncomfy specifically under my butt...

The SLK facelift models after 2000 have a litle more padding and large side bolsters. The Chrysler Crossfire has the same facelift model seats so if you were to get a 1999 SLK, you could find some more new seats and swap them. Other wise if you have not picked up an SLK of your own yet, get a facelift model or even an SLK32 with the AMG seats in it.
