Arm Bsuhings...

My local MB dealer told me after an inspection that my front lower control arm bushings are worn.If i make a sharp turn while parking etc,i hear a noise.
He told me,it would cost 800 bucks to fix it.

Which is outrages, but then again, its a dealer and its a MB dealer,i did not expect it to be a fair price.

Can I have this issue fixed by an independent break shop? I am sure, they would have the order the parts from MB and I'd [pay for it,but the labor would be half the price...

Also, my light for my break pads are on and off, while i drive,it comes on stays on,and then goes away and comes back.
When I had the car inspected, they told me my breaks and pads are in excellent condition, and during the inspection, the break pad light was off...but half hour later it came back on...

any help, advice would be appriciate it

Check your

sway bar drop links. And order the bushings from autohausaz.com and either diy per the factory WIS on alldatadiy.com or find an indie shop to install them.No way in hell is it an 800 buck job.

There are brake pad thickness sensors on the front pads. There could be something wrong there. How many miles are on your car? If the pads were changed, and not the sensors, previous wear on the sensors may be a problem.

thank you guys,

yah i figured $800 bucks for arm bushing is crazy...

I will order them as you guys suggested it and have it installed by a basic shop here...

as far the break pad goes..i assumed it might be the sensor, the break pads and all is all good..

my 2001 slk has 74k miles...

PS: the webpage " autohausaz.com " only shows upper rear arm bushings "

I need "lower control arm bushings" for the front!
