Keep R170 or buy the new R171

Firstly i have to say that I like the way it looks (r171 ).
I have no doubt that the new SLK includes the latest technology.I think they could manage to minimize the problems which could be seen in r170s. What can i saymore?!
..congrats Benz!
Well , we own a roadster and i believe that it is something different than driving a sport coupe or any other car. I mean , you can sell your 97 BMW coupe and buy a 2003 model ,kind of refreshment , updating the model and technology .As we all know not every car looks good after being used for years so it is rational to get rid of the old one and buy the newest.
But with the SLK i think things are a bit different.
It has a retro look , very special design not wild as the new one may be but still looks great with ext.and int.parts.
R171 may look interesting and attractive but i think the new design reflects something else but not the classical soul.

So what i try to say is of course my personal opinion but i believe that many of you will agree with this idea. I will keep may R170 in a very good condition as long as it is possible and i am sure it will be a real classic in the future (i don't know if its right to say for US-i dunno the total number SLK in there but other countries its a strong probability)

Simply R171 - very good design& technology but lost the retro -classic soul.(thats why i believe japanese cars are toys-without soul)
( Oh Btw , i can afford a new one :P but i won't buy it.I decided to keep my R170 and if needed i am gonna buy some other car.)

Thanx for reading this long message.Waiting for your comments!
Take care!!

I like the R170 too..

May I ask how your SLK200 has 193 Hp??? You would literaly have to drop my engine in it to get that kind of numbers...wouldn't you?

Talking

For your bad eyesight i repeat it with CAPS
SLK 200 B]KOMPRESSOR[/B]
Not SLK 200
It is produced before the year 2000 . Thats why it is 193 Hp , in a way very close to 230 Kompressor.
After 2000 , MB produced 200 kompressors with 163 Hp.I have no idea why they reduced the engine power.

A week ago i complained about the missing technical information
about SLK 200 kompressors.(before 2000 - after 2000 ) You have to check the previous threads.

And 193 Hp isnt something impressive for a SLK 320 owner...

Next time try something better for your one man show...

I'll keep the R170. So far, I don't like any of the photochop pics or drawings of the R171. It'll definitely have to be better looking than what I've seen so far for me to want to buy.

Sort of like the W209 CLK. If I had a W208, there's no way I'd "upgrade" to a W209. The front-end styling of the W209 is better than the W208. However, I thought the back end of the W208 was just bland, but the back end of the W209 is HONDA.

I like driving convertibles, but if I have to give up my R170 SLK32 in the next 1 to 5 years, then right now, it looks like the replacement won't be a Benz. Maybe that rumored E-class-based coupe/cabrio will be better.

Thanks,

I am sorry I had no idea that you spoke on this subject before.

193 hp is pretty nice for a SLK200.. as regards to the "one man show" you speak of, I am not quite sure what you mean... but than again I am not very good in English.

Thanks for your reply.
