2001 SLK 230 O2 sensor

Hey ya'll,

Got a '01 SLK 230 with total mileage of 42,000 miles.
Had the "check engine" light come on about 2000 miles ago, and ended up replacing the O2 sensor on it.

About 200 miles or so ago, I got the "check engine" light again , and pulled the codes, and its the O2 sensor again.. I was surprised to say the least, specially that I always use premium fuel and those suckers nornally last atleast 60-80,000 miles...

Anyways when I unplugged the O2 sensor to take a look at it, the plug looked like it had some oil residue left on it, apernaltly from the back of the engine some oil had blown onto it... so I cleaned it out thinking it maybe the problem... is there anyways to reset the check engine light so that I can confirm my diagnosis...... and has anyone had this problem before...

Thank you...

Reset the Code by using a OBD II tool. The M111 eninge on my car has two sensors Did you change the correct sensor?

Hi, thanks for the answer. Yes, I changed the correct sensor, cause it was the up stream one. So I changed the one that is accessed thru the hood, Passenger side, on the Exhaust manafold side down deep.
