Will 245/45's fit on rear SLK 320?

I have a SLK320 with AMG rims. The tires on the rear are currently Contintental ContiSport Contact 245/40 ZR17's. Does anyone know if I can put Contintenal ContiSport Contact 245/45 ZR17's on?

Would they even fit? Would I feel a difference? would the speedometer be off?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

J

Here is a great website that lets you compare tire sizes: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Based upon the fact that a 245/45/17 is about the same size at a 225/35/19 (which I know will fit under the rear of a SLK), I think that size will not be the issue.

As far as the speedo goes, according to that website, your speedo will be a little lower than your actual speed. However, I don't think it will be off as much as the website suggests because I think they are assuming all four wheels are replaced.

Hope this helps,
Ben

THANKS, BEN

Appreciate the info! Kinda like the idea of raising up the back end just a bit, so was hoping they'd fit. Thanks, again!
