1. Does anyone know how to safely and easily remove the pinstriping?

2. The passenger sidemarker is loose and it looks like the plastic clip inside is broken. Where can I pickup one of these?

3. My top wouldn't do anything when I pushed back the button, the windows would just go down and the button light would blink. I opened and closed the truck, and then it worked fine. Is this a common problem or was my truck possibly not shut right?

I look forward to being a contributing member on this forum. I will post some pictures of my car later today.

Thanks,
Cole

1. You can quite easily remove the pinstriping. Unfortunately I dont know any other way other than just trying to peel it off.

2. You first have to check to see if the side marker clip is broken or the headlamp harness for the side marker. You can actually remove the side marker quite easily will a long screw driver. I think the instructions are in the manual, if not there is a small round hole on top of where the headlamp and the side marker join. Stick the screwdriver in and flip the clip over the harnes. You can then slide out the side marker. As for buying it, you can actually find some used ones on ebay. If not you can get it from

3. Sounds like a contact problem to me but then again, I aint no tech guru either. I have had no problems with my top.

for the top check to slide out the leather table or whatever you call it. if this is not out then the top will not go down. if this is not the case, then ask your service at dealer. you have warranty right?

A little gentle heat from a hairdryer may help soften the material and loosen the adhesive.

I figured out that the roll in the trunk has to be in place...
for top to go down. I did buy the car from a dealer in Missouri, and I am in Mass. Only place I could find a sport model with 5 speed in the colors I was looking for. The car is awesome!

Cole,
Congratulations on your SLK!

Let's get down to business...

You probably had your problems fixed by now. Just out of curiosity, did you get it from an MB authorized dealer? Those problems you had should be fixed free of charge by the dealer if your warrenty hasn't expired yet.

=)

Problems fixed.....
The roof problem was due to the roll in the trunk not being in place (and me not having the manual for the car yet). The side marker was replaced for free by MB. I have tips to remove the pinstriping and will do that tomorrow when it is nice and warm outside.

The car is awesome and I am still in shock that I have it and am driving it....
