Engine won't start? Help Plz!!

Got out in the afternoon today to go for a ride, turned the ignition to the second stage and there was some starnge clicking noises as if the relays clicked on the left side of the engine (standing in front of the car) and when i switched the ignition to the third stage (ignition) i only heard a loud clicking noise from the engine in an interval of 2-3 clicks/second(i suppose it is the starter)

Tried it with 2 separate set of keys i conected an external battery source, tested all the fuses, going to try to jumpstart it tomorrow.....

If anyone has any suggestions plz put them below!

New battery due!

Mine failed a couple of weeks ago, too, after 5 1/2 years in service.

Sounds like the battery to me. Trickle charge overnight and give it a try tomorrow. Good luck.

I'd replace the battery, it's only a matter of time until it goes dead again.

But the battery is not that old... only 4 yrs.. but it does seem like it has a hard time to recive some charge.

is it possible that some relay has fried and drains the battery?

battery life

4 years is actually not too bad, some quit even earlier. All depends of course on how well the prev. owner had cared for the battery, even the so-called care-free batteries benefit from some refill of destilled water when levels drop.
I would exchange the battery now - you may squeeze a few more days or weeks out of it but why risk getting stranded with an empty battery? A new one will cost you $70-100, should have at least 460 Amph, doesn't even have to be a Mercedes one.

I'd be jumping for joy if I ever got 4 years out of a battery. I average only 2 years here in Arizona, and I've never had a battery last longer than 3 years. It doesn't seem to matter if they're OEM or aftermarket, expensive or cheap. Even the super-expensive Optimas are lucky to last 3 years here.

Yes, it's possible that something is draining current, but that is really easy to figure out with a good multimeter.

4 years is exceptional for a Mercedes battery. MB batteries are pieces of crap, the first thing I'd do with a new Mercedes is dump the battery for an Interstate battery.
