98 SLK 320 Not getting 14 volts at battery
Hello all, I'm hoping for some advice. I have a 98 SLK 320 that was giving me battery problems. I installed a new battery and the MB dealer advised me that my voltage regulator was faulty and I was only getting about 12 volts at the battery from the alternator. I installed a reman Bosch alternator with a new voltage regulator. I am still only getting 12 volts to the battery. I am getting 14+ volts at the alternator itself. frustrated and confused. Could I be loosing voltage somewhere between the alternator and the battery? Is there a possible cable problem, fuse somewhere? Help greatly appreciated! Craig

Check the ground connection (Negative Post) on the battery and where it the ground cable connects to the body. It needs to be a complete circuit both + and - to get a good reading at the battery.

Thanks for the advice. Looking at the negative batt terminal all looks good, relatively clean and tight. Where the neg battery lead bolts to the chassis ground also looks very clean and tight. Also, the cable itself appear to be in very good shape. Thanks, andy more advice appreciated from you and anyone else. Thanks! Craig
