If you remove the end cap from the LH side of the instrument panel you will see the fuses for the lights. Each low beam circuit is rated 15A and each high beam circuit is rated 10A. A 100W bulb draws about 8.4 A. Therefore, the wiring should support the higher wattage bulb. That said, you may want to monitor the headlamp housing temperature, however, to make sure that it is not too hot with these new bulbs.

Hey Cellular Rob, keep us updated on those 100Ws you have installed. I was thinking of getting higher W-tage bulbs, but wasn't sure whether the casing would support an increase of temperature.

I've read horror stories of J cars (Accords, Civics) who tried to place 100Ws in 50-55W normal conditions and it melted everything including wires and part of the light housing.

Of course, the housing on the SLK is a little different (plus, there's a heat sink on the actual lighting to diffuse the heat).

Hi there,

A mechanic told me that since the cover of the headlamp is not glass one , the higher watt of the bulb will make the cover gets yellowish pretty sooner than it should be with 55 Watt.

Anyhow, let us know your experience.
