Crank position sensor location/pictures

car died during idle. After waiting 5 min, it started ok, but power is very shy. check engine light on. Scanner says crank position sensor...I found lot of infor on CPS replacement on this forum, but not on SLK320 (very strange, no one has a problem with CPS on SLK320?). Read through other threads for the removal/installation, no problem. I looked at the engine/tranx area by the firewall, and can't find this CPS.

Could someone tell me where or some picturs would be great.

thanks

d

It has been two weeks, since the cps is replaced. Car is running fine now. Yes I had to remove the bracket for easy access. Getting the cable clip is troublesome. I found that it is easier to remove the sensor with the cable installed, and then remove the cable. It is just me. Thanks for all the infor

I haven't seen many posts for the slk320....Anyone on the forums with an slk320 have this kind of problem? It's kind of unnerving seeing how I just bought this car not too long ago; was wondering if this is something that is common and needs attention..

Did any electronic work need to be reset? My dad want to change this himself but is worried if anything needs to be reset electronically.

My car has done the same thing. when hot cranks but won't start til it cools, usually about 30 minutes after.

Had a problem with my slk 230 not starting today. It's run perfect for 3 years apart from replacing the air flow meter. It turned out to be the coolant level being too low. Topped it up and it started straight away. Always worth checking it before anything else
