SLK/R170: Wont turnover!
Im trying to fix my friends 96 SLK 230K, heres what happened:
He has been using it as a daily drive and the next morning when about to leave, the car started and suddenly shook and died. Checked all power supply and fuses (beside battery) and all checked out well. The car cranks but doesnt turn over.
He called me to check with my scanner (32 pin) and it read out without any stored or active faults so what I did was to 1st to check the care with mechanical faults which the scanner wont be able to see.
These are what I checked:
1. Pulled down the fuel pump/filter assembly underneath, directed it to a battery - the pump was running well! Re assembled and re installed it already and then;
2. Checked the fuel pressure through the copper fitting along the fuel rail along the injectors - there was NO fuel coming out of the nipple plug
3. Checked the ignition coil power supply for cuts along the wire - there was none
I couldnt think of anything as of now and I read about the K40 relay problem, can this be related?
Thanks

Youre right, one of the relays inside the K40 module was sticking. It was the Relay B, cleaned and sprayed the contact points with a contact cleaner. Now everything is ok.
Thank you very much.
BTW, I noticed by service window display and it has 1 wrench and 170 displayed. What does this mean?
On a car which used regularly (not staying most of the time in the garage) the service window shows in how many km/mi you will have to go for your next service...
Down counting from 10:000 in miles and 15.000 km....
wrench 170... means that you will have your service in 170 days...
if the window shows -170 (- minus) it means that you are 170 days late for the service...
