MAF
I need a new MAF. My question is: Can I buy a Bosch insert from a place like Germanstar or Amazon or do I need to buy the whole unit? It seems to me that the sensor, the part that works, just slips into the plastic housing. Why can't I use the old housing? It would save money. '00 slk230 99k

I am new to the forum and just got myself a used slk 230 that had a maf problem. I fixed it by cleaning with MAF cleaning spray and lightly rubbing with a folded pipe cleaner. there is a shiny side plate that the air flow past on the sensor that needs to be really clean. after cleaning look at it with a jewlers eye loop to look for streaks. you should be able to cean to a mirror like finish with no streaks. then disconnect the battery to clear the memory in the cars computer and reinstall. After I did this the car is running like a champ!
