Brabus Exhaust
I am curious if anyone has installed a Brabus Exhaust on their SLK230. If so, where did you purchase it? I have found one on e-bay and one for sale in a forum. How does it sound, the stock MB exhaust sounds puny, it needs more throat. I was chasing a miata and her four banger sounded nice with whatever after market exhaust she had. How something so trivial gets one to spend $$ on an exhaust tone?

Arnee is the only person I know that had a Brabus exhaust. He traded his SLK for a CLK last year, so he hangs out mostly in the W208 CLK forums here and at Benzworld.org.

OK I bought and installed a Brabus exhaust for the SLK230 and I gotta say WOW! The tone is great, a little overbearing at times but its what I wanted. It gets rid of the stock Phlephhh sound. It doesn't sound like a pissed off lawn mower either. Its just the right tone for the car. The installation was a snap too. Brabus thought it through, especially on the rear hanger. Ok time to go drive....

A clean example :-)
Here are the pics I promised. I didn't get a chance to align the tips or clean up the plastic from the trimming required. The tips do come out at an angle to the drivers side (left). My outside tip does has a dent in it. I am going to an exhaust shop to have it pounded out.

Also, Supra, you may want to clean your tips. If that crud stays on them, it may discolor the crome. I carry a rag in my trunk and rver couple days just wipe the tips down. I just like shiy things, maybe thats why I really do it?

That does look like a nice exhaust system, but I agree, it looks shifted to the left. (It should be centered in the cutout) Also, I'd be furious with whatever body shop you had do this, because it looks like they used a dull hacksaw to enlarge the opening, and isn't the tip on the left bent?

The left tip is bent I have to have a shop pound it out. Supra's body shop hacked the black, I used a sharp utility knife to cut mine and when I get time, I plan on using a dremel to smoth out that cut. Mine, the .Orange colored car, are shifted to the left, I need the time to re-align it to the hole.

Ya, but the body shop didn't take their time and make it look good. Mine came out smooth, but I am still going smooth the plastic and massage the opening to look stock. Supra, what tires are you running, I like the tread pattern.

I also have the Brabus exhaust pipe. It is indeed bent to the side (the two pipes). It's by design. They come out straiught, and then bend to one side at around 30degrees.
Here's some pics:

Shinigami, Nice car! Where did you get the Brabus aprons and did you install them yourself? I was trying to figure out how to take the black lower body panels offs to make cutting easier but couldn't get it unsnapped?

You get Brabus aprons from Brabus... of course.
Depending on your car model year, you will get one of two kinds. The olde rmodels (pre 2001) use the kind I have on my car, i.e. it seems to have these little slits on the bottom whilst the newer models have a sort of 'fatter' rear apron (which I think is not as cool as the older model).
However, the front apron on the older models was just a lip, whilst the new models get a whole new air intake look (the whole bumper is replaced). This looks really nice.

Take a look in the grill thread for a pic of my bumper. And for the Brabus bumper for the newer version, look at the brabus website for a good example.
