slk 230 sport
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Just had my 1999 SLK 230 Sport in for a its A-Service at 115,000 miles,
Mercedes service dept. is telling me I have front tire tread depth of
1 mm outside, 6 mm center, and 2 mm inside on both tires. I have been
using 30 lbs front and 33 lbs rear. They say I need new front tires, new
front axle lower ball joints , R & R, both sides PLUS Center Steering Link
with Tie Rods, R & R, PLUS a 4 wheel alignment to finish the expense of
$2100.00. Am I being looked at as a Sucker?

If you buy tires from the dealer, then yes, service work maybe. I would look for a good Indy shop the specilizes in Euro cars (MB, BMW, Volvo, etc) and get quote from them on the front end work. Find a non chain tire shop that has been in business for a good while that sells multiple brands of tires and does alignments also.
