SLK/R170: Service code 61

Service code 61
My 99 acted like the battery was going bad then it threw a code 61. Hate to go to the dealer if this is just a simple battery change.
Anyone out there know what "61" is?

I'm afraid I don't have your answer, but perhaps you could enlighten me a bit; how does the SLK report service codes? Do you need a code reader, or will it just appear in the LCD display when it detects a problem?

Sorry!!!! I had a brain fart. This is my wifes car and I found that that it was not a code but that the car is 61 days past the recomended service date!
I only drive this car occasionaly and was unfamilier with the service codes!!!!!

Ah yes, the Flexible Service System at work; better change that oil & filter. I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to the question though; just how do we read the service codes on the SLK?
