because I am on the water and the probability of losing it overboard is not zero. The dealer here states a charge of several hundred dollars. Is there a USA or UK dealer who can get me one at a more reasonable cost (one that will start the engine)? If so, contact info please.
Or even a reliable non-dealer supplier?
Thanks.

The key must be purchased from a dealer. They will require proof of ownership. Then the key must be programmed at dealer. Shop around at dealers within driving range. Some dealers have quoted as low as $250 including programming

Only one dealer in this remote area. Quote is US$420. Insane.

Some dealers will let you fax the VIN number and they will order the key. Then you must bring in the car when you get the key. It is a security thing.

Checked with Burlington, Ontario dealer and you are correct in all respects. Got another quote from a different dealer in NZ: $625 for the key, $140 for programming. Ripoff. Have attached my key to a float, bulky but it won't sink and disappear if I drop it.
