Installing new head unit

Would anyone have a detailed description for a new head unit install on a '98 SLK?

I've heard about using a VW wiring harness, what is actually involved in this project?

Or are there any other methods?

Cheers

Andrew

Andrew, I was just about to post the exact same post. I found instruction on doing a 99 SLK radio install here, however I don't know if it would work for a 98 SLK? Does anybody know? Is the wiring scheme different and if so can you post modified instructions please??

Removing the stock head unit depends on which head unit ur's came with.

Removing mine was just a matter of pushing to thin objects into the holes on the side of the head unit.and then pulling it out.

I've also read that on others, u have to slide a knife like object underneath them or something.

The installation of the new head unit went as planned, really happy with the new deck as I now got some quality sounding tunes coming out of the speakers.

Another thing, the new deck has seemed to fix the problem of bad radio reception. I find that the reception is now VERY good. This head unit said something about a "Super Tuner" of some sort. Didn't expect it to be THAT "SUPER!".

Won't be needing to install an external antenna anymore
