SLK-230 oil change and filter help needed

I recently bought a 1998 SLK-230 and love the car. I am changing the oil and am using the instruction page http://www.slk32.com/pages/oilchange/oilchange.html as a template. The page is stated as being for an SLK320, 32 and 230. My problem is the filter on this page does not look like mine. The filter on the the above page has four o-rings and mine only has the large one that seals to the engine block. Also the one on the above page has a long shaft that seems to go through the filter. My filter snaps on the cap and has a long hole in the lower end that seems to seal at its bottom edge on a tube that enters it from the bottom as the filter is installed.

I would appreciate it if someone who has changed his or her oil on an SLK-230 would look at the ninth picture down on page http://www.slk32.com/pages/oilchange/oilchange.html and tell me that the long shaft or nose (about 4 inches ) that appears to go through the filter isn't a part of the SLK-230 filter system.

Thanks for your help. My wife and I could not be more pleased with the car with its neat convertible top.

My SLK 230 is like yours, not like the SLK32.

DickB thanks for your reply. I guess I was just wondering if there was a part that snaped on the bottom of the filter, that I didn't have, which would make it look like the one in the picture on the referenced web page.

Oil changes on the 230 are simple, easier than my Pathfinder!
You will need to get the proper sized filter wrench, I got mine at Pep Boys. It is a metal cap that attaches to a 1/2 inch socket driver. I get the filter from the dealer.
I use a Liquid-Vac ( purchased on Ebay) to drain the oil, be sure to warm oil a little or it will be slow.
Clean & simple and done in less than 20 minutes.

I used a band-type oil filter wrench that I had on hand to remove the filter cover.
