I might try trading my wife's 03 Audi TT coupe for an SLK. Anybody seen some great deals out there????

I would recommend waiting at least one or two months until the SLK 350's have come in. That should set the price of the 170's a bit lower.

2007 E350/2001 SLK320
arrggghhhh, C240? I had one as a loaner, darn near got killed in that thing. Pulled out in front of a semi, and the C240 just sat there staring blankly. Had to floor it to get it to get to 45mph, and even that took too many seconds for comfort.

Guess I'm used to my E320 actually moving when my foot is placed on the gas.

Maybe I just go one of the ones "rigged" not to move

A fully loaded SLK320 w/Xenon, CD-Changer, and Heating Seats goes for about $66K CDN, dealers are selling off brand new ones for $61K(and negotiate-able)..... So, my guess is about 6K CDN/4K USD... Give or take a few hundred bux....

Margins for negotiation really differ by regions.... So, what I said might not really be the case in your area.....

I had a C240 for four days as a loaner and it was very slow off the line even though it pulls 500 RPM more at 70 mph than the 320. Cheap sounding doors too. The car was built in Brazil which surprised the heck outta me. Most of the slowness may have been due to the fact it was a loaner and the person who had it before you probably filled it with 87 RON cheap gas. The ECU will detect the cheap gas and retard the spark enough to really kill performance. The loaner I had only got about 17 MPG in mixed driving as well. I put 92 RON gas in it and disconnected the battery to reset the ECU and it perked up quite a bit. Even then my 2000 VW diesel would leave it standing in a cloud of smoke (exhaust that is) and has a much easier to read instrument panel which MB seems to be copying for the 05 C class.

When I got my 04 SLK 320 Special Edition last month I did a straight purchase with no trade in to obscure the actual selling price. With all options including Xenon lighting and Automatic tranny it was $47k.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to keep the cops from following me around. I'm an old fart who usually drives like an old lady and I have enough gray hair to match the paint job but they still seem to think I'm a felony waiting to happen! My car seems to draw cops out of hiding the way a fresh turd drews flies.
