2001 SLK 320 Amplifier
Hi All, How can I tell if my car came with a Bose Amplifier? I bought it used. Got everything working smoothly. Never had a problem with the radio. Except of course the disk player. No big deal there. Then one day the sound being put out was very poor as if a wire was loose. Took it to the local shop and was shown by the mechanic that there was no amplifier which should have been in the trunk left pocket area. Did it grow legs? Or was it never there and the problem is something else entirely?

I'm pretty sure the AMP will be in the passenger footwell attached to a metal frame behind the carpet next to the gearbox ECU.

Ok sorry for the delay. That area in the trunk inside the interior left side pocket - actually was wiring to install an old model car phone system. Has nothing to do with the amplifier. That being said I will now continue to research whether I need a new radio or speakers.
Since then I now have a PO300 code. I had all the spark plugs and wires replaced in the last year. Any suggestions if it turns out to not be just a loose wire? Thanks!
