SLK 230 (R170)Alarm goes off intermittently!!

My alarm keeps going off for no apparent reason! Also, when using the spare keyfob to "blip" and turn activated alarm off, it only works when key section is flipped to out position?? Very annoying!! Can anyone please help for I am upsetting the neighbours especially when alarm activates at 3am!!

When was the last time you replaced the battery? Low voltage will trip the alarm, among other electrical paranormal activity.

Either the siren battery is dead or the PSE pump is failing

Might be there is problem in alarm setting, I dont think there is any battery problem. It will better to check it out from service center.

I got sick of mine, so unplugged the siren! LOL! Is there a siren battery? Maybe I should check it. Where is it? PSE Pump? Is that for the central locking?

Unhappy alarm and other issues

Hi All I'm new to this site, but wonder if anyone has any ideas for my slk.

My alarm also keeps going off randomly, but it has a red light on the dash that you can press in and sometimes it will reset itself, I noticed that once the alarm has gone off and I start the car, the red light remains on and flashing, and it can take ages to get it to stop, but one of the worst faults it seems to be having is that occasionally when I start the car and pull away (never from cold though) it doesn't change gear properly, sticking in 2nd usually for ages, then jerks into 3rd, but if I stop at traffic lights I seem to lose revs and it sort of judders a bit, but never cuts out, just a bit weird really, but then within a few minutes its clear again and superbly smooth?... it never ever does this when it is cold it's always when I've driven about 10 miles then leave it parked up for a few hours while at work.

Also there is a light on to tell me I have a bulb out... but I haven't... not anywhere??... only comes on when I put headlight switch to full lights, not high beam, just full headlights??

It's only done 60,0000 miles so I don't think it can be that serous can it??

Alarm problem skl

I have had these problems and after spliting and opening the siren i found the three battery pack inside badly corroded so i have located a company that can make up a new pack of batteries.
These batteries are generally unavailable. from normal sources including the manufactures Varta, If you find that this is your problem contact me on -- michael.davis4031@virginmedia.com. and i will try and help.

I have similar problem with my 99 SLK230. Lights won't stop blinking when I lock my car. I replaced the alarm horn assembly with a brand new OEM horn, 150+ dollars but lights still blinking. Unplugged horn alarm and lights are still blinking. Has to be something else. Checked the vacumn pump in the trunk and its good. Is there something else in the trunk that could cause this problem?

My alarm started going off when my central lock system developed an air leak.

My drivers door was not locking, because of an air leak in the central locking system, the alarm went off because both doors went out of sync, one door would be locked the other would be open.

Make sure your doors are locking and unlocking, if one of the doors or trunk lid isn't unlocking check for air leaks then repair the leaks.
