Depends on what you mean by "that much better". My 1999 SLK230 manual typically got 19mpg in the city and 30mpg on the highway (really close to the EPA estimates), whereas my 2002 SLK32 AMG auto gets 15mpg in the city and 26mpg on the highway. The 320 must be somewhere in between so the 230 would come out to 2mpg or so better than the 320.
