I posted this in the wrong the place...over at the R230 thread.....here
for ease - here is my question I cant recall where I got the photo (silly me for not copying the link) - but this was the centre latch o-ring prior to someones rebuild - here or over at slkworld. Looks like 9mm ID 4mm cross section...... Anyone concur? Local hydraulic guy said he has them $1 each - how many would I like?
I could buy a kit - but from the USA to OZ is 2-4 weeks +$50 - If I can do a local, she can be done 2morrow for $1 ------I dont want to get complicated here - but interesting discussion over at the R230 forum (in the link above) about O-Rings versus the original MB flat rings and a concern the o-rings aren't quite up to the job.
Update - Guy gave me four 9mmID 4mmXS orings for nothing at the local hydraulic shop.
Installed in an hour (1/8th drill technique) - 1 month on , so far so good.
Followup to the R230 comment in grey above - possibly better, but since the seal is only used infrequently - should be okay. After 5 or so years - I haven't yet read about a failure of one of these o-ring fixes.
Glad to hear the fix worked for you.
I'm in Melbourne and having a hard time sourcing the o-ring. What kinds of shops have them and would be happy to sell them individually?
Try a couple of local industrial hydraulic shops - that do stuff for industry/commercial.
Strike up a conversation.
Apparently a very common seal
Use the dimensions I quoted as a good start
Hasn't leaked yet - 20+ cycles so far
