Unhappy Alarm and Fog Light Issues

Help! I recently purchased an 2000 SLK 230. This week I began having problems with the alarm and fog lights. As soon as you lock the car the alarm sounds, unlock the car and it stops. We changed the fuses and now you can lock the car with no instant alarm. But a new issue started, the parking lights blink every so often, just as if the alarm is activated but no sound from the horn. Right now the fuse for the alarm is removed so we can lock the car without fear of the alarm or lights activating.

Second issue, the fog lights come on without being turned on. Tonight the car was unlocked in the driveway. They would come on, stay on for a minute or so then go off. A few minutes later they would come back on again. I checked the switch inside and everything was off.

Has anyone ever had this issue????

Well usually when your light are on and you shut them off and close the door the fog light will come on for about 20-30 second and shut off. But I never heard of them coming back on though. Good luck

I had a similar problem and it was a wet PSE module in the trunk with a corroded relay cable. The dealer installed a new cable ($78 for the part including installation) and now the car works perfectly.

Unfortunately this and similar problems due to moisture at this module in the trunk are all too common. I had both an alarm problem fixed by the dealer under warranty and late a dome light problem that I fixed myself by cleaning the contactes at this module.
