Increasing the HP in the 320

I have the SLK 320 (2001).
I talked to Brabus the other day, hoping to have them drop in the 3.8 engine, for less than 16k. I love the car, and have a top of the line multimedia system in it, so I don't really want to get a new one.
I talked to them the other day, to make arrangements and was told that the cost is now $32,000 plus my old engine, plus $2,000 installation!!!
I was on the edge with the 16K. More I won't pay no matter how much I like the car.
BTW I had a minor rear end accident 6 months after I bought the car, so it's value is in the toilet, even though all the work was done by Mercedes and it is flawless. Really ticks me off.
Anyway, does anyone know of a cheaper way to pump up the power in the 320?

as you mention , you want to drop a whole engine ? swap right ? . to my understanding , you dont need the whole engine to convert from 3.2-3.8

Yes. thats stupid.

You can increade displacement by boring.

Your best alternative (and much cheaper in my estimate) is a S/C systeme from Kleemann or HPS. Both will give you HP you want without 32K price tag) Remember, SLK32 is the same engine as yours, just S/C.

Go with the Kleemann suprecharger. It is a more efficient blower and you can get more power with less boost from a Kleemann SLK32K than the SLK32 AMG. I believe it will run you around $8,000 + installation.
