Does anyone know if the SLK55 is available with a 6spd. manual transmission in Germany...can it be ordered anywhere with a 6spd. manual trans?

there never will be manual tranny for AMG's... AMG believes it will cause them more headaches and there just isnt enough demand justifying it for them

While agree that there has never been and currently definitely no manual available for the 55, I disagree that there is no demand. Now that Mercedes has actually figured out how to make a proper manual transmission that is fitting for a sportscar, I think there is big, unspoken and spoken demand. I am sure many prospective buyers end up with a Porsche for this reason alone. You have to remember, before the Slk350, Mercedes made manuals fit for cabs, not sports cars. With their recent commitment to building a real sports car, I think it's time for them to wake up and offer a manual transmission in all their zooped up models and continue to tweek what has been a huge leap forward with the SLK.

well its not that there isnt any demand, as i would loved to see a manual amg, but the way MB sees it, ppl don't know how to drive manual's properly and will be a liability on the warranty side. whether its true or not, i don't know, but i think thats MB's take on it.
for amg's if i were MB, F1-style paddle shifts that are light years better than the current ones offered on AMGs would be the way to go... bmw seems to be fixed on the idea that smg is the way to go, and does ferrari make anything other than paddle shifts anymore (no clue on this one). can't say i agree with them, just my 2 cents

I am planning on ordering a 2006 SLK 350 for early october delivery. I wouldn't hesitate to wait a little longer for an SLK 55 with a manual transmission. I'm not holding my breath though. I've got to row my own gears regardless of how good that seven gear auto is.
