3.0L V6 putting out 231HP...not sure of the torque figure tho.

I'm guessing options wise, some things will come standard on the 350 that are optional on the 280.

Dealer allocations already being made?

I'm surprised they didn't just number it SLK300 since the displacement is closer to 3000 anyway.

As an entry level model the price has to stay under $40,000.00. Doesn't the SLK350 sticker for about $6,000 over that before options?

A habit of mercedes...

I have noticed this about mercedes..they always tease people knowing they are going to try to buy first....They released the 200 and lots of people went for it - despite it being overpowered - so they released the 350....people rushed to buy it saying it was the best of the bunch....and now the 280 (seems really 300)...so all those people who have bought the 200 and 350 may regret it. All they needed to do was wait 18months and a properly decent engine, at a decent price with decent fuel economy and with a decent pickup will come along....damn teasing in my opinion....welcome to Mercedes "Capitalist" Benz.

I don't care whether M/B raises the price or lowers the price. I also don't care about the SLK 280. I bought the car that I wanted (SLK 350) when I wanted it. I'm going to drive it all summer and enjoy it. Life is short and can end suddenly. I don't plan to delay my fun.

Living for now..

In which case Duo-Art, in accordance to that theory, - why not take out a massive loan and drive a super car - after all you might not need to pay it back if u are tragically taken away from us the next day

What is the torque spec for the SLK 280 in lb-ft?

Important when comparing curb weight with automatic transmission.

And, would SLK 280 autotran still be 7-speeds?

2005 SLK350
GIven the choice, I would still get the 350. This is a sports car, right? I would have bought the 55 if I hadn't set a $50k limit on myself, which I still went over by $3000...

As far as I'm concerned, give me all the power I can afford...
