SLK/R171: Option Options
1) I would like COMMAND, but do not want to waste the glovebox space for the CD changer--especially if there iPOD options. Suggestions?
2) I would really like to integrate my BT Cell phone rather than their $1K option.
a) anybody have experience with that
b) can their hands-free option be added later by dealer
3) I have not done the SIRUIS thing before. Is it worth it? Can it be added later as well?
Forgive the newbie questions, but this is my first MB plunge.
1) Get the Comand without the CD changer - iPod will store all you want and free up the glovebox.
2) Pretty much got to go with Merc if you want full phone integration - If you are getting anything added afterwards you can pretty much double the cost and then start counting. I didn't get phone kit in previous Merc, but made sure I did in this one.
3) Don't have Sirius in the UK.....
The problem is if you think you want something, it will just bug you if you don't get it.
Orion Blue and Everest Green are gone
Pewter (used on the "launch" edition) is available
Blue leather is gone
Brown Nappa leather is available
The sports suspension is NO LONGER available as a stand-alone option. You MUST purchase the AMG kit on the SLK 350 to get the sports suspension.
Yeah, you're screwed on the phone, but it is only available as a dealer installed option, so you won't pay any more for it regardless of when you order it. It was $1595 plus installation last time I checked.
Sirius rocks, but I'm in it for the talk radio, not the music. The music stations are just as homogenized and play the same crap you'll hear on just about any Clear Channel Communications station. However, I live in an area where talk radio is basically non-existant. I love it, and wouldn't have a car without it.
hope that helps...

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The aftermarket options are better & cheaper, especially when you consider the price and limitations of the MB phone.
I have also heard rumors that there may be a BlueTooth aftermarket kit in a few months. That is what I want so I can leave the phone in my pocket or briefcase and not fill up what little storage there is.
Anybody know anything about in car wireless options on the way?
