SLK/R171: Command Screen Question

Command Screen Question
I was just reading a recent thread "Ordering my SLK next week...need help with options" and one of the members mentioned that the command screen can play DVD. My question is whether this is correct or not. I do have the entertainment package (no navigation) but do have the large command screen. I thought that in order to play the DVD, you need to install a specific software. However, my understanding could be wrong. If someone can confirm that for me, I would really appreciate it!
