Run Flat Indicator
I just wanted to share a positive experience I had with an option I was not too sure would work well. I originally ordered the run flat indicator option, thinking that it was measuring tire pressure; what it actually measures is variation in wheel rotation speed.
This morning I heard a "ping" and a red warning came up in the display telling me to keep it below 50 mph, and have the wheels checked. I had just checked my tire pressure 4 days ago: perfect at 32 front, 35 back. When I checked this morning after the warning came on, my right rear tire was at 27. At that pressure, it did not look or feel any different than the other tires, so it was not something I would have noticed otherwise.
Took it in. Nail found. Tire fixed. Run Flat Indicator Reset. Option worked perfectly. I recommend it.

Cool...
Can i ask - is this the same as the Tyre pressure monitor just under a different name? Or is this another option different to that? Also does it actually say what the pressure is in each tyre? Or is it just a plain warning light?

The SLK has the tyre pressure loss warning system (code 477), which just indicates when there is a loss of pressure in a tyre. What comes on SL/CL/CLS etc is the Tyre pressure monitor (code 475), which shows up the pressure of each tyre in the display.

On the 2005 model, in the USA, this was part of "Package 328: Run Flat Tire Package". It included run flat tires and the low pressure indicator. It was $250 list I believe.
In the manual, it says that it determines significant pressure loss by measuring a change in wheel rotation speed. It definitely just warns you. It does not tell you which tire is low. There is no pressure measurement. But as I indicated, it works.
I don't know what they are doing for 2006, because it is now called "Package 328: Tire Pressure Loss Warning System". It includes Extended Mobility Tires (same as Run Flat, I believe), and "Low Pressure Warning System." It may have changed.
Who knows what they have in the UK. Perhaps because they spell tire as "tyre" they actually measure pressures. I doubt that it is different though.

So there is a difference?
So the SLK only just gives a beeping warning when tyres are low whereas the SL actually gives a reading of the pressure of each tyre?
