Color question...

I just placed my order for a 350...I have a few days to make up my mind on color and am debating between Capri Blue/Ash vs. Iridium Silver/Red...I know it is a personal decision, but I would be interested to see what everyone thinks...
Thanks...

My second choice was silver, i think it looks sweet. Not into the red interior at all. I think it would get old very fast if used regularly. I had red on red in my 66 vette but I only was in it twice a month. The Blue does look sweet but it will show everything just like black. Also depends where you live too. Black here in the Pacific Northwest is fine. I would not want it if I lived somewhere that was very hot all the time. Good luck.

Next week I'll pick up a firemist red with nappa brown 350 (in Europe). I personally think the white/silver/black exteriors are a bit too ordinary for this car. I would not put black interior if you live anywhere there is sun and value you skin. I have never been a fan of red leather. So I like your first choice better than the 2nd.

how come no black leather in a place with sun? does it fade or something? the problem i see with light leather is that dirt shows up really easy

He's just referring to how hot the black interior will get in a hot & sunny climate.

Iridium Silver/Red. No doubt about it.

I don't see a problem with that, gives you a reason to rub and spend quality time with her.

Red interior??? It's just a trend.....stick to the classic silver/ash combo.....much more classy.

I went with Orion Blue (don't think it is available for US cars) and for the interior I went with Black and Alpaca Grey seats. I originally said Iridium Silver but after talking to many others I started to notice that about 80% of people order this color. What appeals to me about the SLK55 is that there aren't many around. I want to have something different from everyone else so I decided to not take the silver and to go with the blue. I know silver has a better resale value but I want the car for me, not for what I can get later in life for it.

Incorrect, a little over 40%, not 80%. Orion Blue is a great choice, different is good, I would order that color in a heart beat, but it's not available in the US anymore, but yeah, resale will suffer a little but as long as you like it. It shouldn't matter, it will be worth the wait.

2005 SLK350, Mars Red - Tan Interiors
When we took the tour at the plant for European delivery, I believe they told us that for all Mercedes models, 80% are some form of silver, gray, or black. I like different too, and being in a small car on a road filled with SUVs, I like the most visible colors (even though the police seem to like them too.)

In any case, Mercedes has made roadsters with red leather interiors since the 1950s. So red seats are just as 'classic' as tan or gray. Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder anyway.

Yep, that's where I got my info, silver is the most popular with 40 something percent (I can't recall) and then followed by black at high 30's.
