Back o' Mirror

I have the autodimming mirror and I hang my parking permit from it, but I was wondering if there were any sensors on the back of it that I may be covering up. Anybody know and/or where to people hang such things?

It would take you less time to look at the mirror than to post this thread.

True enough... but also easier to answer than moan about it. I believe the original poster is correct in that there is a sensor on the back of the mirror -- likely to measure light coming from the front and rear. Even if you don't just look at it, you can feel around the back and you'll find a small indentation (on the right side, IIRC)... that's where the sensor is.

The only issue with blocking it is that it might perpetually think it's dark(er) in front, and dim the mirror because it thinks the light coming from the back is causing glare in your rear view mirror.

See something and knowing what it does are two different things. I was rather hoping somebody knew, because I could not find anything in the owners manaul.

I agree with that completely, and I don't think anyone visiting this forum should feel intimidated to ask a question. I have gleaned a great deal of useful information here by just perusing the threads, and occasionally asking a question of my own. I have also posted what I hope has been useful information for others. So please, if you happen to see a question that you think is silly, try ignoring it. Thanks to taroliw for a thoughtful answer to Vodil's question.

Well that explains it. Glad to see you have graduated to a more refined vehicle and style of communication. Should you ever feel a relapse coming on, I hear there is a Texas chapter of Corvettes Anonymous.

:v I'm a member of the Corvette forum. They are "fair" people. That's one of the best forums on the net. A tremendous wealth of information with very active participation. Those guys are fanatics about their Corvettes. I was on a Corvette kick. Learned a lot there. Purchased a 2006 SLK 350 instead. I would like to see more active participation here and the other SLK forums.
