First of all apologize because maybe this topic is answered in another one topic in this forum, but I can not find it.

I have a SLK R171 with Audio 20 (this Audio20 has not AUX) and IPOD 60GB (5th Generation).

- What's the best way to connect it to the sound system without a FM-Transistor?

- Can it be controlled directly with the steering wheel?

I have had luck here in Bangkok with the Belkin Tune Base and the Monster I-CarPlay. But you can't control it via the steering wheel.

Are you sure the connector works in Audio 20 on the SLK?? According to this doc it does not???? Has anyone actually done it?

Actually the picture that I posted earlier showed it connected to a Comand in our S. This afternoon I tested the Monster i-CarPlay in our SLK with the Audio 20. It played very well when the car was in our heavily 'concreted' condo garage but when I tested it on the road it didn't work very well.

Bangkok has a lot of FM stations and I am not sure of their wattage. This might have something to do with it.

But, the thing worked well in the garage....which only says that there is nothing in the wiring or non-wiring to prevent the thing working in a SLK fitted with the Audio 20.

However, I doubt it will get much use in our SLK.

I dont know why people think the AUDIO 20 can operate an iPOD in the SLK but I keep hearing about it and I never see it being possible.

ITs COMAND or its nothing. Those transmitter things are average.

But it worked perfectly when I was parked in the garage. I tuned the Monster iCar-Play to 88.2 and the Audio 20 to FM 88.2 and the sound was just as good as the CD. But, when I hit the street with the SLK the sound was terrible.
