SLK/R171: ESP Malfunction

Slk 230 & CLK500
ESP Malfunction
Have a 2005 350 with 6 speed with less then 500 miles. Today I got the ESP malfunction saying contact dealer workshop, also check owners manual. When I first start the car I can switch it on & off showing the yellow light but after moving I get the malfunction & cannot switch the light on. I thought I read previously about problems with the ESP. Any ideas?

It is most likely sensor(s) failure and the car is drivable even with this failure.
You need a visit to the dealership to get this resolve. GOOD LUCK.

IIRC, the most common cause of this message was the steering wheel position sensor. There are a couple of TSB's on the subject -- especially for 2005 models. Your dealer should have no problem deciphering the problem.
