Does anybody know where I can get the SL 500 stub antennae for a good price?

I think the part number is: 230-827-0101

I'm not sure if the year matters on the SL (between 03 - 05) but if it does then please let me know.

I like the SL look and am willing to sacrifice radio reception and key fob range for the hott look. Besides it comes painted in oem color too.

Any help would be appreciated.

The black round tool came in a small plastic package with the owner's manual, first aid kit, and cloth windscreen. If not you can purchase from the local MB dealer at their parts section (should be relatively inexpensive).

The SL antenna sells for around $100 from the dealer and your RF range will be reduced to about 30 - 35 feet. There is a 9xxx following the above part no. to designate the color code (last 3 digits, e.g., pewter or cubanite silber will be 9723).

Bringing this thread back to life...

I've personally installed the R170 (w/ ridges) short antenna, and reception has definitely been affected. There is more static in general, and when you drive further away from the "hotspot" of your local favorite radio station, it worsens. Just so you folks understand where I'm coming from, I commute from San Francisco to San Jose and vice versa and I toggle between 106.1 and 94.9 and 103.1

In addition, when you enter a garage complex or dense/building-centric area, the static is also very evident. There is also a tendency for the radio to receive mixed signals from close-frequency stations.

I've also tried the SL-antenna. Reception is even worse than the R170...so I'd definitely stay away.

I just ordered the full SL-radio kit and will post up again when it's installed. Hopefully, that one works a lot better than the two I've tried thus far.

Here are some photos from my install; took about 5 minutes. Note the antenna tool does not come with the R170 antenna, it came with the car. The silver metal tool is from my tool box, basically you just need to make a lever of sort to turn the tool.

I dont like the antenna. I am gettin me an R171 in a month or so, I am going to have the body shop shave the antenna off.

No, Iridium silver just like my car, even has the metallic flakes.
