SLK280

Hey guys,

I've had my SLK for about 8-9 months now (2006), and I realize that I made a mistake. Instead of ordering the 350, which I originally intended to do, I ordered the 280. The newest shipment at the showroom only had black 280's, and I was focused on getting a black SLK. Anyway, now I am starting to feel that the engine is not enough for me.

The reason this is so unfortunate is because I have contacted Brabus, Fabdesign, Kleeman, and Carlsson, and none of them do engine mods for the 280 (they do them for every other engine size though). I can't mod without a warrantee from the tuners though, so I am very confused about my options.

As a side note, I wanted to ask something. I am interested in buying aftermarket rims, but I am confused about them. I have found 19X8 inch rims, which fit on the SLK, but for some reason tirerack tells me they only work on BMWs. Why is this? Are the specs of the rim not enough to tell whether they fit on the car?

It's unfortunate, I thought Kleeman did make mods for the 280? Maybe it's not too late to traded in for a 350.

yo Y!! am assuming that urs is the 350 right? but i just wanna know how u got that extra muscle at the side.. towards the rear wheel.. i dont think the 350 came w/ those, right??

It's a 350 with the optional AMG sports package, the regular one does not come with the side skirts. check the pic below.

I was going to trade in for an identicle car to mine, except it was AMG. It had 25,000 KM on it and I didn't think it was worth the money to tell you the truth (if Im going to pay that much I would rather have a near-new car lol).

Is there really no hope?

Perhaps you can trade it for the 350 and then have it modified by Brabus or Kleeman. I'm not sure if this would be that much cheaper though.

Kleemann is the cheapest and yields the most performance of the other competitors, but it's not cheap.
