So what did everyone drive before you bought your SLK? I am curious as to what kind of vehicle background SLK owners typically have before coming into this.

I have a 1993 Mazda Rx-7 that I am considering trading in for one.

I still have my previous car, a 1997 Honda Prelude (56,000 miles). I can drive it and park it anwhere and I never worry about it. Not so with my SLK.

Getting rid of a Classic sports car? Oh man, don't do it. 3rd Gen RX-7s are very rare, handle great, and can be modded to perform even better .

Get an SLK in addition to the Rex. If you do unload the RX-7, you would be better off to sell outright vs trade in. Fyi, they are appreciating. KBB went up almost $4k this year on 3rd Gen RX-7s.

He's right. 3rd gen RX7s are very sought after cars. If I wanted a japanese muscle car, the 3rd gen RX would be my choice second only to the Toyota Supra with the 2JZ engine.

1981 Chevy Chevette diesel? I never knew Chevy had a diesel Chevette. I know they had a ton of problems with their 1979-198x diesels. How was it? I've had two VW diesels. I love 'em.

I knew that would get a reaction! It normally does. IIRC '81 was the only year and they used a Mitsubishi diesel. 'Runny' brown in color, it was a complete piece of garbage and would not start below 50 degrees! Whenever I'm asked why I never have remarried I point to that aweful car...but as bad as it was it beat the bus.
