New 400 hp M3 --> Should it replace SLK?
The new M3 looks wicked, I havent decide should I change my SLK350 to M3..?
The new M3 definitely will cost much much expensive, currently it cost US$63000++ average. The new one, I estimate will cost US$75000++ .
I just love SLK so much, the hard-top convertible feeling is priceless..

Stick it out man. Enjoy the SLK350 for a while and wait for the new SLK63. Or, wait for the SLK63 release, purchase an SLK55 at price depreciation point, and tune it to outperform the new M3 with the money saved from not going with an SLK63.

hmmm... dunno hahaha
new M3 looks is irresistable too. I think I am going to keep my slk, sell my bro's, 545i and get new M3. But then I only can ride 6 persons all together.. instead of 7 people in my family.

Personally, I'd hold out for the 63. But, to each his own, and if the M3 is the toy for you then go for it and enjoy it!
Or, trade up the 545 for an M5.
Edit: Wow, I forgot to even mention. Do you have any interest in the 4DR M3? Meet your seven person neccesity and have both an M3 and SLK.

Hmm, not to sure about exact release dates. SLK63 seems like a while away, but I'm pretty sure it will be worth the wait. A 4DR M3 is coming out, and it will be one helluva compromise with the new V8 motor and 5 seat room.

I checked out M3 sedan. Not as appealing as M3 Coupe. Infact the 3-series coupe itself, 335i has stolen my heart with its body shape looks and its 300 hp twin-turbo charged in-line engine.

You live in Fantasy land. You don't even have an SLK. Your ignorant posts are now clear, no wonder you cannot understand what people say to you. Go away and get an education. I know I wind peole up on here, but at least I dam well own one.

Im just wondering about the weight distribution of the car. The reason the previous M3 was so remarkable was excellent distrubtion of weight, amongst a million other things. I believe they said for the 335i, they didnt want to go with a bigger engine was because of the distribution of weight. So if the frame is about the same, im wondering how they plain on making this work. Hope this doesnt turn out like some glorified Mustang. But hey, its BMW, im sure they know what they are doing ( o wait, they made iDrive, ehh, they are still working on it)

M3 dilemma

The new M3 definitely will cost much much expensive, currently it cost US$63000++ average. The new one, I estimate will cost US$75000++ .
I just love SLK so much, the hard-top convertible feeling is priceless..///
Don't worry, sources tell me that sometime after the new M3 coupes get here next spring will follow the first-ever retractable-hardtop Beemer with a whopping 400 M3 ponies!!! At that point the 55 AMG just wont cut it, i reckon.
Im already praying for the slk63, our only hope it seems.

Personally, I don't see the argument. M3 and SLK are so different that in my mind they don't compete. The BMW is always going to be better on the track. The MB is always going to have those luxury features. MB also has some unique things like the roof, the F1 nose etc.
The SLK was the first MB I ever bought after a couple of BMWs because it was the first to drive anywhere near as good as the BMWs, but if I wanted to race (and could not afford an SLR), I would go back to Bavaria.
Or, how about both?

They'll both have the convertible hardtop, they'll both reach 60 in 4+ seconds, they'll be about the same price, they'll both have paddle shifters, they'll both be fun little rear wheel drive sports cars with high-tec features and quality craftsmanship, etc etc, thats why many folks may consider both come summer. To me, anyway.

If memory serves me right Car & Driver has already squeezed low-to-mid 4's out of a stock 333 hp M3, so i wouldnt be suprised to see a dip down into 3's for 07! They could engineer it if they wanted to.
Thats why I say Benz may need to six-three/four-seventy-five our beloved amg, otherwise how will we manage to hold our heads up high?
I really think Benz might loose sales to this new competition, after all, its likely to be a 2+2, whereas the slk only seats 2 and can feel cramped by comparison.

The new 400bhp M3 should be good for 60 in 4.5 (assuming its the same weight as the E46) and 100mph in around 10.5sec

Well, umm, I..a,.. I ..meant with slicks on!
So you've given up on the idea of getting the 55amg? why's that? By the way, what is an Aston MArtin "AMV8"? Price is? Is that the V8 Vantage?
May I have your MB forum name, if you're giving it up!? I plan to get one myself soon, the 55 that is, unless a 63 becomes available.
Has anyone attempted to special order a color, or request options not normally available on the model of your choice? Id like the 280/350 shiny dark wooden steering wheel on my amg. What about a source for slk decals?
I reckon it would look great with some tasteful hood stripes, or even along the side line. pics?

It's an SLK, not an American muscle car, why do you want decals, especially hood (racing) stripes. Even if I do know where, I'm not going to let you ruin your SLK.

Ynot,
Thanks for the information regarding the M3. If it is real, it looks like a great package. Don't get me wrong, I love my SLK. If correct, MB needs to up their game. I don't want to switch, but that M3 looks good on paper.
