Need SLK advise
I need some advise, I currently own a E350 and my wife is considering a 2006 SLK 280, today I looked at a 06, 280 with 14,000 miles, heres the problems that I need your advise and opinions on.
The original owner said that he had coffee spill while in the cup holders, which I think sit above the CD player and that the CD player has to be replaced as well as the cup holder, it appeared to be a heavy sticky dried substance. Also the vehicle reeked with the smell cigarette smoke, and the computer said, 540 miles over maint B.
I guess my questions are, does anyone know the cost of the CD replacement, can the smoke smell be eliminated and what is maint B and the cost. Any imput will be greatly appriciated and I thank you in advance.

Hmm, well you didn't really mention price (or I'm blind), but sounds to me like I'd wait up on a better offer. That feels like a lotta work to clean up so your wife can start enjoyin' her cruisin'.

If it's an '06, it could have been purchased any time after the middle of '05, so it could easily be a year and a half old. So I would not be concerned about the mileage, as 12-15K per year has become an average, depending on the location. (Out West, our average mileages run a lot higher than back East.)
But I would be very concerned about the overall condition. I eat, but I do not eat in my car, nor do I let anyone else eat in it. If I smoked, I would not smoke in the car, at least not to the point that the car reaked of smoke.
He says coffee spilled. But coffee residue is not thick and sticky, even if it's a latte.
If he's selling that expensive a car, why would he not get the simple $250 service done first. Unless of course he knew it would turn up something else.
I would pass on that car, as I doubt it has been well maintained, and you don't know what else you are not being told about its history.
