hello and welcome. I am in florida also, so why would you debate getting tinted windows? the tint will help protect your dash and leather seats and keep the car cooler.

I really like the look of window tint, As JBanks15 stated, coolness (temperature) and interior protection are key benefits. I prefer a medium tint versus dark.

Thanks for the welcome.. I hesitate because I wonder what it will look like when the side windows are up and the top is down. Also anyone using metallic based tints, I know in the C-Class that sometimes causes interference.

Hi all, what type/brand of tint did you buy and how much did you pay? I'm reading Llumar and Huber Optic are the top brands for ceramic and will run in the neighborhood of $300.

15% regular 3M tint, cost about $110 installed from a local tint shop, he charged by the size of vehicel, unlike many which charged by the brand. I recall asking a guy for an estimate for a small two door convertible, with small rear window, two side, and two tiny sides windows, was quoted $125 but then they saw the vehicle, it bumped to $350.

I have Huper Optik 50% on the rear and sides. It's pretty subtle. Although, it is classy looking. If I did it again, I would probably go for 40%. The 50% is great if you want a classy look and not be bothered by the cops.
Sorry about the poor quality pic. It was taken with a crappy camera a while ago. I might have another pic on my other computer if you want to see a better pic of Huper 50%.

Yes, get a good shop to do it. Ask drivers of other tinted cars who they used. It took about 30 minutes for my shop to do all 5 windows. They have a computer controlled cutter that uses each models specs to cut the tint to size from a roll. In Florida it is worth it to reduce the glare and heat. Good luck..

Ynot, do you have any pictures of your car with the top down and the windows rolled up? I've been thinking for a tinted setup but I'm just worried how will it look when the top is down. Thanks

Pulling an old thread out. Recently bought an SLK55 and i'm getting mix responses from Tint Shops about having to remove the door panels to apply skin mold to prevent tint from scratching.
My question is... did any of you fellas had to apply the skin mold at all? Any scratches on your tints from rolling the windows up and down? Thanks in advance.
