SLK/R171: Ran w/ SL550 today, suprised
Ran the SLK350 today w/ a brand new SL550. Guy wanted to play so i played. I was surprised when i floored it that he wasn't pulling away, infact we were pretty much dead even. One thing I was really surprised about was the sound from the SL550 when he opened it up. I sounded REALLY meaty for what looked like stock exhaust (car had paper plates so I am assuming stock, tips stock too). Either way SLK350 really held her own today. Gotta love these cars, they have to be the most nimble agile MBs out there today.
Actually, I usually run with EVOs. For a stock EVO, we are pretty much even after taking off the line. They won't pull out too much at the take off, but that would depend on the driver. However, the 7G is idiot proved, so we can pretty much do about the same.
I know E55 can take SLK55, but I really don't know others beside MB.
What have you guys tried?
We were all surprised because they are my friends. Some of them are modified and there are couple are still stock. I believe if the driver is good, SLK 350 does not stand a chance at the take off. However, rolling from 30 miles, it really does about the same.
Here we go again, for a dig b/c of the 4wd, the evo will beat it, from a roll, it's about the same with an advantage to the Evo, from a high speed roll >70mph, the SLK350 walks away slowly, I'm not going to search the threads, if you are interested you can do it, also look at car&driver and other mag speeds for both to 120mph, you'll be surprised. I'm at 5250 feet elevation, so I don't dare race an Evo, I'll get my @ss whooped easily, NA cars lose a lot of hp here, not so much for turbo cars.
