Service A in 8 months/ 3700 miles ?

My car has been flawless. I have had it 7 months and close to 4000 miles. Not much. I am now showing a warning that Service A is due in 27 days. I believe it was 1 year or 13, 500 miles. Any thoughts before I see the dealer ?

Thanks

Service A is just an oil change IIRC, it does it by time (1 yr) or mileage, whatever comes first. No worries, just get your oil changed.

My car is telling me that it will be due for an "E" service next month. I wonder what that is and what it will cost. Yeah, I know I could find out by reading my owners manual but I put it away 3 years ago and I'm not sure where it is.

Weird, mine says Service B required. I called and they told me it costs 450. Hmmm.... my car arrived Feb 06 (euro delivery in Dec.) I think I forgot to get Service A done....(not sure) I don't pay attention to the screen.
So now 4600 miles in Oct 07, I see service B required in 11 days.

IIRC, that's just an oil change, you can go to Bill's website to confirm, link is somewhere in benzworld

That's roughly how much I have to pay too, I have a service appt next tues. Service A comes up when you have about 13K miles, since you have 4600 that's why you never got the alert, Service B is two years or 26K miles, whatever comes first IIRC.

I just did the same thing, but the service guy said I did not really need a Service B yet and so did a Service A (which is mostly just an oil change etc.) and reset the computer to do a Service B at the next oil change interval.

I picked mine up ED in Sept 05 so the Serice B was due to the 2 yr clock.

Service "B" is a major rip-off, the service advisor told me it's going to be $560 with tax but I had a 10% coupon and asked them not to change the air filter b/c I have greens, asked them not to change the wiper blades (inserts) b/c I'm afraid they might scratch my car and the blades rarely get used, so that was deducted from the cost. I ended up paying $457.98 for an oil change and an inspection. My SLK has 8,000 miles, so my suggestion to anyone with low miles and approaching 2 years, just get an oil change and have them reset the service b alert.

With service coupons I got it done for $287, that was for an oil & filter change, brake fluid change, brake inspection and wheel balance. I changed the air filters (Green filters), cabin filter and wiper blades myself. Of course they would not reset the service indicator but I was able to do that myself, too.

That's a better price, I read about how to reset the alert but figured, I'll take it to the experts and let them do it. I think $500 plus is a lot of some minor changes and a checkup.

They charged me 225$ or 190$ after discount for SERVICE A. Only took them 1 to 2 hours. I asked for a price sheet for the diff services and he told me they don't have one..... strange, they just make up the prices as they go?
He tells me the next appt service is a year from now for service B.
